Chimney Stacks & Pointing

Re-pointing of chimney stacks and chimney pots is a vital part of maintaining a "healthy" property.

Poorly-maintained brickwork can collapse during storms causing roof damage as loose chimney stacks crash through ceilings.

Insurance companies have declined claims where a chimney stack is left in such a poor state that its collapse has caused a roof and ceiling to come in. For a storm damage claim to be successful, it is every property owner's duty to ensure their property is kept in a good state of repair.

Roofline recommends chimney stacks are re-pointed and re-flauched every 30 years; maintenance is very small cost compared to the potential danger to property and life and the possibility of void buildings insurance.

Experienced, trained staff carry out Roofline's re-pointing works. Many chimney stack repairs can be conducted as part of a general roofing or construction project.

Chimney stacks are often the cause of leaks into domestic properties, through perished lead work and flashings.

Loose chimney pots and poor flaunching around the top of chimney stacks are also a cause of falling debris.

One option is for dormant and disused stacks to be dropped and capped off, made safe and unable to cause property damage or harm to passers-by.

Every year Roofline is called to hundreds of storm damaged properties across Yorkshire.

With a reputation as a roofing company of integrity and professionalism, accredited and trusted by insurers, Roofline provides independent assessments for loss adjusters and insurance companies, as well as written opinions and advice to domestic and commercial clients considering a potential claim.
